What you’ll learn in this session
If you want to carve a niche for yourself in the marketplace, you need to understand the market. So you’ll want to know who the major players are in the cultural sector, how the chain works, who the key figures are in your specialism, and how to connect with the right people. At this evening’s session you’ll explore the creative and cultural sectors through an economic lens. You’ll discover smart ways of influencing the market to suit your needs, and use the Business Model Canvas to chart your network and identify opportunities.
About
The expert for this evening session is Simone van Bennekom, the overall leader of project Entrepreneurship at the AHK. An ATD graduate, she also ran her own theatre company and gained a degree in Economics from Erasmus University, Rotterdam. Simone is herself an entrepreneur, with extensive experience as an adviser to businesses and the creative sector. She worked on business policy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs, focusing on international innovation and market expansion in the creative industry. Simone also conducts research and publishes on internationalisation and growth strategy in collaboration with Erasmus University.

The teacher will tell you everything you need to know when starting up, opening the doors to a new world. We provide the pen and paper, so you can note down all the tips and tricks.
Get to work
Roll up your sleeves, because we’re going put what you’ve learned into practice right away. Sometimes the teacher will ask you to work with a specific case study, but usually you’ll be applying it to your own situation.

- Free for current students and recent graduates (from 2019 onwards).
- € 12.50 for AHK alumni who graduated before 2019.
- € 15.00 for non-AHK participants.
