Admission & application

To apply to the Reinwardt Academy for the Master of Museology, please register at and upload the enrolment form plus necessary support documents such as a CV, motivation letter and copies of possible degrees and diplomas. The deadlines for application are March 1 and May 1. The March-deadline is especially for those applicants who are applying for scholarships with different deadlines or who are otherwise in need of early application information. Applications received after May 1 will only be considered if the maximum number of students has not been reached for instance due to deferral of admitted students. Minimum admission requirements

  • University degree in any field from an academic institution or university of applied sciences (Dutch 'hbo'), or at least 5 years of relevant work experience with demonstrable bachelor level skills and knowledge of the museum or heritage sector.
  • Fluency in English (written and oral): an equivalent of IELTS 6.5.
  • Ability to meet the financial requirements of the programme.

All applicants meeting the requirements mentioned above are assessed by an admissions committee on the basis of suitability and motivation. Only the best candidates will be selected.


Your application will be assessed by the admissions committee. We aim to select the most suitable and best-motivated students to establish a diverse cohort of various geographic, professional and academic backgrounds. For this purpose, your motivation letter is very important. It should include your thoughts on the museum and heritage field in your country (or region) and how you envisage your participation in this field and contributing to its development. It should illustrate how studying our Master of Museology would contribute to achieving your goals. In order to get a better impression of each other an (online) interview will be scheduled as part of the assessment procedure.

Flexible programme

The modular structure makes the programme manageable for part-time students or professionals who are just interested in upgrading their knowledge and skills on particular subjects. Part-time students are required to complete a minimum of 2 modules per year. Single modules can be followed by special arrangement.
