Reinwardt Memorial Lecture
Annually the Reinwardt Academy organizes lectures in memory of Caspar Reinwardt: The Reinwardt Memorial Lecture.
A national or international scientist, who makes a significant and lasting contribution to reflecting on heritage and heritage institutions, is invited each year. Ad de Jong, Lynne Teather, Rob van der Laarse, Laurajane Smith, Michael Shanks, Birgit Donker, Kavita Singh, Marcos Buser, Margriet Schavemaker and Salvador Muñoz have respectively covered lectures since 2008.
The lectures are named after Caspar Reinwardt (1773-1854), a Prussian-Dutch scientist and director. Furthermore name-giver of the faculty of Cultural Heritage of the Amsterdam University of the Arts. Caspar Reinwardt earned honorary doctorates in Philosophy and Medicine, became professor of National History in Leiden and director of several botanical gardens.
