Parts of the past: heritage and education in the 21st century contains the text of the inaugural lecture given by Hester Dibbits on accepting the position of endowed professor in Historical Culture and Education together with LKCA at the Centre for Historical Culture (ESHCC) of Erasmus University Rotterdam. Dibbits argues in favour of research into the various, often implicit agendas, visions, missions and emotions at the basis of educational heritage programmes, in order to obtain more insight into the dynamics of the contemporary heritage world as well as heritage formation processes.
