We deeply sympathize with our students and staff from Ukraine and Russia

The Amsterdam University of the Arts is shocked by the Russian army's incursion into Ukraine. We are extremely concerned about the consequences of this terrible situation for all residents, (art) education, the cultural climate and cultural institutions in the affected area. We would like to express our deep respect for our Ukrainian colleagues who remain committed to art and culture during this time, as well as for our Russian colleagues who take a firm stand against these incomprehensible developments.

We empathise deeply with our students and staff - Ukrainian, Russian and others - who are directly or indirectly affected by these developments, including their families, friends and relations. We will do what we can to support them where needed.

Our academies are in close contact with our Ukrainian and Russian students and staff and offer support to help them through this difficult time. As soon as we have more clarity on what the Dutch government can do for students in this emergency situation, we will inform you immediately. If you need a helping hand or someone to talk to, please contact the student counsellor of your academy. They are eager to offer assistance, however needed!
