Interdisciplinary researcher and project leader with a specialization in visual culture, representation and inclusion. Asmara has worked across contemporary art, journalism, education and heritage including at Reinwardt Academy’s Heritage Lab, RNTC Media Training Center, Framer Framed, NOOR Images and World Press Photo. In 2011 Asmara co-edited the book UNFIXED: Photography and Postcolonial Perspectives in Contemporary Art. Asmara holds an Interdisciplinary Studies BA from University of California Berkeley with a focus on the social history of photography and a MA from Leiden University in Photographic Studies.
